President Museveni Ends Busoga Mobilisation Drive, Sets Sights on Kigezi

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on Friday wrapped up his campaign tour of the Busoga Subregion with a major rally at Kyabazinga Stadium in Bugembe, Jinja City, capping days of meetings, community engagements, and mobilisation drives across the region.

Addressing thousands of enthusiastic supporters, President Museveni reaffirmed that the NRM’s 2026–2031 Manifesto is built upon what he described as the party’s “seven major contributions” to Uganda—peace, development, wealth creation, jobs, service delivery, regional integration, and the consolidation of East African unity.

He told supporters that Busoga, once affected by instability, is now fully benefitting from the dividends of peace, which have created space for infrastructural development, investment, and social transformation.

“The first contribution of the NRM is peace. Once peace came, development followed,” he said, citing progress in roads, electricity, and education.

The President highlighted ongoing and critical infrastructure works in the region, including the Tororo–Jinja road, the reconstruction of the Kampala–Jinja highway, and improvements on the Amber Court–Budondo, Kamuli, and Mbulamuti roads. These, he said, will ease movement, support trade, and boost local economic activity.

Museveni also emphasized the distinction between development and wealth creation, insisting that while the government delivers public infrastructure and services, it is up to individual households to seize opportunities and generate income through modern agriculture and enterprise. He once again guided residents on the four-acre model and other homestead-based income ventures.

“When people ask you why you support NRM, you should confidently mention peace, development, wealth creation, jobs, services, integration, and East African unity,” he said. “These are gains we must protect as we move forward.”

The President expressed gratitude to the people of Busoga for their hospitality, massive turnouts, and renewed commitment to the NRM cause. He reaffirmed the government’s continued focus on transforming the region through industrialization, agro-processing, and youth-centered programmes.

With the Busoga leg of the campaign now complete, the NRM candidate will shift his mobilisation efforts to the Kigezi Subregion, where he is expected to roll out similar engagements focused on wealth creation, infrastructure upgrading, and consolidating party support ahead of the 2026 general elections.
