President Museveni Campaigns in Bududa, Promises to Tarmac Bubulo–Namisindwa–Bududa Circular Road

Bududa District – Saturday, November 8, 2025

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has officially launched his 2026 presidential campaign in Bududa District, rallying residents to continue supporting the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for its consistent record of delivering tangible results across Uganda.

Addressing thousands of supporters, President Museveni said his government’s commitment to transforming the livelihoods of Ugandans is clearly visible in the development projects taking place in Bududa and the entire Bugisu sub-region.

“I urge our people to continue supporting the Movement because we are not just talking, we are showing results,” Museveni said.

Infrastructure Transformation: Road Projects Changing Lives

The President highlighted the successful completion of the Mbale–Bumbobi–Bubulo–Lwakhakha road, a major infrastructure project that has improved mobility and trade between Uganda and Kenya through the Lwakhakha border point. The road has been credited with reducing transport costs, improving access to markets, and stimulating local business opportunities.

Museveni further announced that funds have been secured for the tarmacking of the Bubulo–Namisindwa–Bududa circular road, a long-awaited project that will connect several rural communities in the mountainous district to the main economic centers.

“This circular road is very important for the people of Bududa and Namisindwa. It will open up the area to trade, tourism, and better access to services. The funds are now available, and we shall ensure the road is completed,” he assured.

Residents welcomed the news with excitement, describing it as a dream come true for a region that has long faced challenges in road connectivity due to its steep terrain. Local leaders hailed the government for prioritizing infrastructure that directly impacts rural productivity and safety.

Wealth Creation Through the Parish Development Model (PDM)

President Museveni also praised the people of Bududa for embracing the Parish Development Model (PDM), a program designed to eradicate household poverty by supporting rural Ugandans to engage in commercial agriculture and other income-generating activities.

According to the District Chairman, the initiative has begun to bear fruit — with Bududa now emerging as one of the key suppliers of beef and cattle to eastern Uganda and even to markets in Kampala.

“This is clear evidence that wealth creation at the household level is taking root,” Museveni said. “The NRM government will continue supporting such programs to ensure every family joins the money economy.”

Protecting the Gains of Development

The President underscored the importance of peace, stability, and continuity in safeguarding the progress achieved so far. He encouraged Ugandans to remain steadfast in supporting the NRM, which has led the country through decades of transformation.

“We must protect these gains and continue supporting all wealth creation initiatives. The NRM stands for development that can be seen and touched — not promises in words, but action,” he said.

Museveni emphasized that the next phase of the NRM’s leadership will focus on consolidating rural transformation by expanding infrastructure, supporting farmers with access to markets, and ensuring sustainable wealth creation at the household level.

Bududa’s Strategic Role in the NRM Agenda

Bududa District, located on the slopes of Mount Elgon, has historically faced challenges including landslides and limited road access. However, under the NRM government, several interventions — from infrastructure upgrades to social development programs — have begun transforming the region.

The new Bubulo–Namisindwa–Bududa road is expected to not only improve trade and transport but also boost tourism, as the area boasts scenic landscapes and cultural heritage sites.

A Call for Continued Support

President Museveni concluded his address by urging the people of Bududa to continue supporting the NRM in the upcoming 2026 general elections, promising to build on the solid foundation already in place.

“The work is visible, and the future is bright. Let us walk this journey together so that every Ugandan can be part of the money economy,” he said to applause.
