AUUS Elections 2025: Full List of Nominated Candidates and Unopposed Contenders
The elections are scheduled to take place on Friday, September 26, 2025, marking a pivotal moment in the governance of university sports in Uganda.

The Association of Uganda University Sports (AUUS) has officially released the list of candidates nominated for its Executive Committee elections, which will usher in a new leadership team for the 2025–2029 term. The announcement, made in line with the AUUS Constitution, sets the stage for a competitive race for key leadership positions as universities rally behind their respective candidates.

Top Contest – AUUS President
The highest office in AUUS has attracted strong contenders from two major universities:
Dr. Agnes Baluka Massajja (Busitema University) – an academic and sports enthusiast with experience in sports administration, promising to strengthen AUUS structures.
Mr. George Wagoogo (Kyambogo University) – a long-serving figure in university sports with a vision to professionalize AUUS operations and widen its partnerships.
This race is expected to be tightly contested given both candidates’ track records and influence in the sports sector.
1st Vice President
Two candidates will face off for the position of First Vice President:
Ms. Martha Soigi (Kampala University)
Mr. Mustapha Nsubuga (Mountain of the Moon University)
Nsubuga’s name also appears in another race, showing his deep interest in AUUS leadership.
Vice President – Technical
The technical docket has attracted:
Mr. Mustapha Nsubuga (Mountain of the Moon University)
Mr. Lukaire Samuel (Uganda Christian University)
The competition here is expected to focus on who has the stronger technical capacity to guide university sports development across disciplines.
General Secretary
A crowded field of four candidates is vying for this crucial position:

Mr. Hilary G. Kimbugwe (Makerere University Business School)
Mr. David Busobozi (Uganda Martyrs University)
Mr. Patrick Ssebuliba (Victoria University)
This race will be key since the General Secretary plays a central role in the daily operations and communications of AUUS.
Assistant General Secretary (Unopposed)
Ms. Ekone Brenda (University of Kisubi) She has been declared unopposed and will automatically assume the role.
Treasurer (Unopposed)
Mr. Brian Miiro Nsubuga (Makerere University)
Also unopposed, his financial management experience is expected to strengthen AUUS’s financial accountability.
Male Student Representative
Two young aspirants will battle for this student leadership position:

Mr. Ambrose Kalibbala (Mutesa I Royal University)
This position provides students with a direct voice in the AUUS leadership structure.
