Hon. Miriam Mukhaye Brings Light and Hope to Mbale Communities
For years, these areas had lived in darkness, with residents eagerly awaiting electricity connections. Hon. Mbale District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Miriam Mukhaye Wangisi Massa, has once again demonstrated her commitment to community transformation through a landmark visit to Nabweye Parish in Lukhonje Sub-county and Bumayena Shikoye in Bushiende Sub-county on Tuesday, September 16, 2025.
For years, these areas had lived in darkness, with residents eagerly awaiting electricity connections. Hon. Mukhaye, accompanied by a technical team from the Ministry of Energy’s Electricity Access Scale-Up Project (EASP), brought the long-awaited news that power supply was finally reaching their villages. Jubilant residents described the development as “a dream come true,” pledging their unwavering support for the legislator in appreciation of her efforts. Many openly vowed to give her another mandate in the forthcoming 2026–2031 general elections.
Beyond electricity, Hon. Mukhaye also turned her attention to the healthcare needs of her constituents. She made a stop at Burukuru Health Mini Hospital, a critical facility that currently operates in a rented building costing the community one million shillings annually. To boost service delivery, she donated essential medical supplies, including tablets and gloves, to the health workers.
Residents and local leaders praised her consistency, recalling how she has previously supported the health center with equipment and pledged to continue addressing the gaps in healthcare if given the opportunity to serve again.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Mukhaye reaffirmed her commitment to improving the quality of life in Mbale. She emphasized that access to electricity and healthcare are not privileges but rights that every Ugandan deserves.
“My dream is to see many households in Mbale connected to reliable power and every family accessing proper healthcare. These are pillars of development, and I will continue to fight for them,” she noted.
Community members said the arrival of electricity would spur economic growth, enable small-scale industries, improve education by providing lighting for students, and enhance security in their neighborhoods.
The visit has left many in Mbale inspired and hopeful, seeing Hon. Mukhaye’s leadership as a bridge to lasting development in the region.
