Musibikba Sets Tone for 2026 Race With Strong Development Pledge to Manafwa Residents
Launching her campaign on Saturday, 15th November, in Kimaluli Sub-county, Musibikba received an enthusiastic welcome from residents who pledged overwhelming support for both her candidacy and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
Annet Musibikba, the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Woman MP aspirant for Manafwa District, has officially kicked off her parliamentary campaign with a strong promise to champion improved access to education, better road infrastructure, and enhanced healthcare services across the district.
Launching her campaign on Saturday, 15th November, in Kimaluli Sub-county, Musibikba received an enthusiastic welcome from residents who pledged overwhelming support for both her candidacy and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
A Campaign Rooted in Community Needs
Speaking shortly after the event, Musibikba explained that she deliberately chose to begin her campaign in Kimaluli because of its pressing service delivery gaps and the warm relationship she has built with the residents.
“Residents told me their biggest challenges are the lack of government schools and health facilities, which has hindered service delivery. I will lobby government to construct schools and a health centre to address these gaps,” she said.
Education, healthcare, and roads form the backbone of her campaign message, with the aspirant positioning herself as a leader ready to confront long-standing inequalities in these critical sectors.
Commitment to Education and Youth Empowerment
Musibikba reiterated her dedication to supporting learners in Manafwa, highlighting her ongoing scholarship programme that has enabled many students to access higher learning institutions. She pledged to expand this initiative by seeking partnerships that will increase the number of fully sponsored students, especially in science-related courses that are essential for national development.
“My goal is to give every promising student a fair chance at advancing academically,” she noted, emphasising that education remains a key tool for transforming families and communities.
Infrastructure and Energy at the Centre of Her Agenda
Beyond education and health, Musibikba assured residents that she would champion better road networks within Manafwa, noting that improved roads would facilitate trade, movement, and access to essential services.
She also promised to engage the Ministry of Energy to address power challenges in off-grid communities and stabilise electricity supply in areas experiencing frequent outages. Access to reliable electricity, she said, is essential for economic growth, safety, and improved quality of life.
Growing Support from Grassroots Leaders
Musibikba’s campaign launch attracted a cross-section of supporters, including former loyalists of her competitors who have since joined her camp following the NRM primaries.
Walimbwa Stephen, also known as Muzungu, a long-time supporter of Hon. Rose Mutonyi, urged residents to rally behind Musibikba, describing her as the right candidate to work with the government to deliver services.
“She is the striker who can score goals for us. As NRM members, we support our flagbearer because she can work closely with the government to deliver services,” he said.
Another former supporter of Hon. Mutonyi, Mwolobi Sylvia, praised Musibikba as energetic, determined, and capable of reaching every corner of the district to understand and address residents’ concerns.
Residents Praise Her Track Record
Local residents also spoke highly of Musibikba’s leadership and community initiatives. Khanakwa Beatrice of Kimaluli said many politicians had made empty promises in the past, but Musibikba has already demonstrated genuine commitment through practical interventions in youth empowerment, health, and education.
“She has done a lot in the short time we’ve known her. She is a genuine leader who cares for her people,” she said.
A Tight Race Ahead
Musibikba enters the 2026 race under the NRM flag, facing competition from former Bubulo West MP Hon. Rose Mutonyi, who is running as an independent, and Mutonyi Irene, the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate.
With her campaign now officially underway, Musibikba says she is ready to traverse the entire district to mobilise support and promote an agenda centered on unity, service delivery, and inclusive development.
Her message to the people of Manafwa is clear: “Together, we can build a stronger, better-served district.”
