NUP Begins Vetting Exercise in Wakiso and West Nile as Lawyer Kuuku Amos Eyes Nansana MP Seat

The National Unity Platform (NUP) has kicked off its vetting exercise for parliamentary aspirants ahead of the 2026 general elections, starting with candidates from Wakiso and West Nile regions.
The process, launched on Monday, is being conducted by the party’s electoral management committee to assess aspirants’ competence, credibility, and consistency with NUP’s core values.
In Wakiso, lawyer Kuuku Amos appeared before the vetting panel as he seeks the party’s ticket to contest for Nansana Municipality Member of Parliament.
Following the exercise, Kuuku expressed optimism about his performance and vowed to use his legal expertise to advance accountability and justice if entrusted with the mandate.
“I am hopeful for the best outcome. My focus is to rectify laws that disadvantage our people, fight corruption, and review unfair taxation policies that continue to weigh heavily on ordinary citizens. I am ready to serve with integrity and accountability,” Kuuku stated.
The NUP vetting process is expected to roll out in other regions in the coming days, as the party prepares to unveil its final list of flag bearers.
With areas like Nansana Municipality already attracting strong contenders, the outcome of the exercise is being closely watched by both party supporters and the wider electorate.
