The Umukuuka paid special tribute to the Babukusu elders of Trans Nzoia, who turned up in large numbers to receive him with traditional songs, blessings, and vibrant cultural displays. He noted that the elders’ gesture symbolized deep-rooted historical and cultural connections between the Bamasaaba of eastern Uganda and their kin across the border in western Kenya.

“In their embrace, I saw the spirit of peace, unity, and a shared future as one people with one culture,” the Umukuuka stated, emphasizing that the reception reinforced his ongoing advocacy for harmony and togetherness among the Bamasaaba community.

He further highlighted the importance of collaboration between cultural institutions and political leadership, noting that the seamless coordination between his institution and the Trans Nzoia County Government serves as a model for fostering mutual respect between governance structures and traditional authorities.

The Umukuuka also commended Governor Natembeya for hosting the delegation to a luncheon, describing the gesture as a sign of humility, cultural pride, and commitment to strengthening people-to-people relations.

The visit, according to the cultural leader, marks the beginning of a renewed chapter of cooperation between the Institution of the Umukuuka and the Trans Nzoia County Government. He expressed optimism that such engagements will promote cultural preservation, socio-economic development, and lasting unity among communities on both sides of the Uganda–Kenya border.

Meanwhile, Hon. Steven Masiga, spokesperson of the Bugisu Cultural Institution, revealed that Governor Natembeya later reached out via telephone to appreciate the Umukuuka and his delegation for undertaking the cultural tour to Trans Nzoia.

During the call, the Governor reportedly conveyed his goodwill and extended wishes of peace and prosperity to the people of Uganda and the Bamasaaba community.

The visit underscores the growing significance of cultural diplomacy in strengthening cross-border relations, particularly among communities with shared ancestry, traditions, and values.
