Bulambuli’s Daughter Nandutu Jackline Giduno Nominated, Promises to Champion Farmers, Women, and Youth

Bulambuli District | 22nd October 2025

The people of Bulambuli District today witnessed a momentous political event as Nandutu Jackline Giduno was officially nominated by the Electoral Commission as the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate for District Woman Member of Parliament ahead of the 2026 General Elections. Her nomination, held at the Bulambuli District Headquarters, was greeted with jubilation, dance, and chants of “Mama Bulambuli, the voice of the voiceless!” as hundreds of supporters escorted her to the Electoral Commission offices.

Running under the campaign theme “Fixing the Economy, Restoring Hope, and Putting Money in the Pocket,” Nandutu vowed to champion the cause of ordinary citizens — farmers, youth, women, and traders — whom she said have been neglected by selfish leaders and an unfair economic system.

A Daughter of the Soil Ready to Serve

Dressed in traditional Busoga wear and accompanied by a strong team of FDC leaders and cultural representatives from Inzu Ya Masaba, Nandutu began her address by giving thanks to God, quoting from Psalm 118:23 — “This is the Lord’s doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.”

She also paid tribute to the Muslim community, referencing Surah Al-Imran 3:26, saying, “Leadership is not by might — it is a divine calling to serve humanity with humility, truth, and justice.”

Nandutu described her nomination as both a spiritual and civic responsibility to lift the people of Bulambuli out of poverty, corruption, and insecurity.

“I stand here today, not for fame, but for service; not to enrich myself, but to uplift you — the people of Bulambuli,” she declared.

Uniting the Three Constituencies as One Family

In her detailed campaign message, Hon. Nandutu outlined her vision for Elgon North, Elgon County, and Bulambuli County, the three main constituencies that form the district.

In Elgon North, she pledged to address poor road networks, land conflicts, and crop destruction by Mt. Elgon forest rangers. She vowed to champion fair land rights and improved infrastructure, quoting Isaiah 58:12 — “You shall rebuild the old ruins; you shall raise up the foundations of many generations.”

In Elgon County, where most residents depend on coffee and banana farming, Nandutu promised to push for better market access, value addition, and stronger agricultural extension services. Citing Surah An-Najm 53:39, she emphasized that hardworking farmers deserve fair returns for their labor.

In Lower Bulambuli (Bulambuli County), she focused on restoring peace and security for communities affected by Karamojong cattle rustlers. She called for a permanent security presence and youth empowerment programs, quoting Matthew 5:9, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.”

War on Corruption

Hon. Nandutu also sent a bold message to district officials and national leaders, condemning corruption as “the biggest mountain before our progress.” She cited cases where jobs are sold to the rich, while qualified children of the poor are left behind.

“This is not leadership — it is injustice,” she said firmly, invoking Proverbs 17:23 and Surah Al-Baqarah 2:188, both warning against bribery and unjust enrichment. She pledged to champion transparency and fairness in public service recruitment and district development programs.

Defending People’s Interests in Parliament

In a passionate appeal, Nandutu criticized legislators who, she said, have repeatedly sided with self-serving government policies that hurt the people — citing their support for the UPDF Bill, Coffee Bill, and the removal of presidential term limits.

“They forgot the people and chose to serve themselves,” she said. “But I, Nandutu Jackline Giduno, will not forget you. I will legislate and advocate for the true interests of our people.”

Quoting Micah 6:8 and Surah Al-Nisa 4:135, she emphasized her guiding principles — justice, truth, and humility — promising to stand up for what is right, even when unpopular.

Fixing the Economy and Putting Money in People’s Pockets

Aligning with Team Nandala Mafabi’s FDC economic agenda, Nandutu called for a new direction that empowers ordinary Ugandans through production, fair trade, and small business growth. Her economic priorities include:

Supporting coffee farmers with fair prices and cooperatives

Strengthening SACCOs and women’s groups

Expanding youth skills and job creation programs Promoting affordable credit and fair taxation for small traders

She cited Ecclesiastes 3:13, saying, “Every man should eat and drink and enjoy the good of all his labor — it is the gift of God.”

Unity Under Inzu Ya Masaba and the Bugisu Region

The FDC candidate also called on the people of Bugisu to rise above division and rally under their cultural heritage — Inzu Ya Masaba — for collective progress.

“From Bumugibole to Muyembe, from Buginyanye to Buluganya, from Sooti to Nabiwutu — let us rise as one people, proud and united,” she urged.

She quoted Psalm 133:1, “How good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity,” and Surah Al-Imran 3:103, “Hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.”

In her closing remarks, Hon. Nandutu reaffirmed her commitment to serve with integrity and humility, describing herself as “the only candidate without scandal.” “Vote Nandutu Jackline Giduno — Your Daughter, Your Voice, Your Hope,” she declared to cheers from supporters waving FDC flags.

Her nomination now sets the stage for a heated race in Bulambuli District, where voters will decide who best represents their aspirations in the 2026–2031 parliamentary term.

As the sun set over the lush slopes of Mt. Elgon, her supporters sang: “Mama Nandutu — the daughter of the soil, the voice of the voiceless, our hope for a new Bulambuli.”
