The Private Sector Foundation Uganda (PSFU) has successfully conducted a comprehensive Board Induction for its newly appointed members, marking a significant step toward strengthening governance, institutional alignment, and strategic leadership within the organization.
The induction exercise brought together both existing and incoming Board members in a structured orientation designed to equip them with a deeper understanding of PSFU’s mandate, operational framework, and long-term strategic priorities. The initiative underscores PSFU’s commitment to ensuring that its leadership is well-prepared to guide the organization in advancing private sector growth and economic development in Uganda.
During the session, participants were taken through key aspects of corporate governance, including the roles and responsibilities of Board members, ethical leadership, and oversight functions. The induction also provided an in-depth review of PSFU’s institutional mandate as the apex body representing the private sector in Uganda, highlighting its role in policy advocacy, capacity building, and facilitating public-private dialogue.
A central focus of the induction was the organization’s current project portfolio, which spans multiple sectors aimed at enhancing competitiveness, promoting investment, and supporting enterprise development. Board members were also briefed on PSFU’s diverse membership base, which includes businesses and associations across various industries, reinforcing the importance of inclusive and responsive leadership.
The newly inducted Board members bring a wealth of experience from key sectors of Uganda’s economy. They include Mrs. Susan Muhwezi, representing Tourism and Hospitality; Mr. Erostus Nsubuga, representing Agriculture, Agribusiness and Forestry; Mr. James Byaruhanga, representing ICT and Communications; and Mr. Peter Kasirye, representing Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Their diverse professional backgrounds are expected to enrich Board deliberations and enhance PSFU’s capacity to address sector-specific challenges while driving cross-cutting initiatives that benefit the broader private sector.
The induction exercise laid a strong foundation for effective governance by fostering a shared understanding of PSFU’s vision, mission, and strategic direction. It also emphasized collaboration, accountability, and innovation as key pillars for the Board’s success.
As PSFU continues to play a pivotal role in shaping Uganda’s economic landscape, the onboarding of these new Board members is anticipated to inject fresh perspectives and strengthen the organization’s ability to champion private sector interests, support business growth, and contribute to national development.
With a well-aligned and informed Board, PSFU is better positioned to navigate emerging opportunities and challenges, ensuring that the private sector remains a key driver of Uganda’s socio-economic transformation.
