Bugisu Cultural Leader HRH Sir Jude Mike Mudoma Urges New LCV Chairpersons to Rethink Strategy and Strengthen Regional Cooperation

The Umukuuka wa Bugisu, HRH Sir Jude Mike Mudoma, today hosted newly elected LCV chairpersons from across the Bugisu sub-region at the cultural institution offices in Malukhu, Mbale City, in a meeting aimed at strengthening unity and strategic leadership for regional transformation.

The engagement brought together district leaders from across Bugisu in what the cultural leader described as a timely dialogue focused on harmonizing development priorities and deepening collaboration between cultural and political leadership structures.

In his address, Umukuka Mudoma congratulated the LCV chairpersons upon their election and commended the people of Bugisu for participating in the democratic process. He emphasized that leadership is a sacred responsibility that demands vision, integrity, and a collective commitment to improving livelihoods.

He urged the leaders to “strategically rethink” their approach to service delivery, calling for innovative solutions to long-standing challenges affecting the sub-region, including youth unemployment, environmental degradation, infrastructure gaps, and poverty. The Umukuka stressed that while political mandates may differ, the ultimate goal remains the same — uplifting the people of Bugisu.

“Unity of purpose is the foundation of progress,” he noted, encouraging the chairpersons to rise above political differences and work together in advancing shared regional interests. He underscored the importance of coordinated planning, especially in areas such as agricultural modernization, education, cultural preservation, and disaster preparedness, given the region’s vulnerability to landslides and climate-related shocks.

The meeting also served as a platform for open dialogue, with LCV chairpersons sharing their priorities and challenges within their respective districts. Discussions centered on strengthening partnerships between local governments and the cultural institution to mobilize communities, promote peace, and enhance accountability.

Umukuka Mudoma III reiterated the cultural institution’s readiness to complement government efforts by mobilizing grassroots support for development programmes and promoting values of hard work, unity, and moral leadership among the Bamasaaba people.

The leaders welcomed the engagement, describing it as constructive and forward-looking. They pledged to foster greater cooperation across district boundaries and to maintain regular consultations with the cultural institution to ensure inclusive and people-centered development.

The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to collaboration and a shared vision of a more cohesive, resilient, and prosperous Bugisu sub-region.
