Historic Alliance as the FDC and DA Join Forces to Shape Uganda’s Political Future

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has hosted leaders of the Democratic Alliance (DA), led by Hon. Mathias Mpuuga, in a groundbreaking two hour meeting at the FDC headquarters.
On Tuesday , the high-level talks tackled pressing national issues, including electoral reforms and transition arrangements, with a shared vision of securing a brighter and more democratic future for Uganda.
Hon. Patrick Amuriat, FDC President, warmly welcomed the DA delegation and reaffirmed the party’s unwavering commitment to pushing for free and fair elections. “Uganda will remain even after elections, and it is crucial to establish a well-structured transition process. It is a duty for all Ugandans to champion these electoral reforms,” Amuriat declared.
He also revealed that the proposals discussed will be reviewed by FDC’s internal organs and later presented to the party’s top management for further action.
Hon. Mathias Mpuuga expressed gratitude for the hospitality and praised FDC’s proactive approach to collaboration. “We have met with the Justice Forum and now the FDC, and I am impressed by the openness and commitment of these engagements. What Hon. Amuriat has shared us an accurate reflection of our discussions,” Mpuuga noted.
He as well underscored the importance of opposition unity in resisting fraudulent transitions of power and ensuring Uganda’s elections reflect the people’s will.
The meeting underscored the urgency of mounting collective pressure on the ruling NRM government to implement meaningful political reforms. Both parties acknowledged their shared responsibilities and pledged to engage all stakeholders willing to contribute to Uganda’s democratic progress.
The FDC and DA leaders concluded the meeting with a resounding commitment to work together to achieve a transparent and inclusive electoral process. The collaboration, described as a major step toward political unity, signals a renewed determination to secure Uganda’s political future and safeguard democracy for generations to come.
