President Museveni Pledges Better Social Services as NRM Campaigns in Luuka District
Addressing the crowd, President Museveni assured the people of Luuka that his government is focused on strengthening social services—especially healthcare, education, and infrastructure—to ensure a better standard of living for every household.
Luuka District, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni spent the early afternoon in Luuka District on his latest campaign trail, reiterating the NRM’s commitment to improving the quality of life for citizens through stronger social services, peace, and continued development. The President, accompanied by the First Lady and Minister of Education and Sports, Maama Janet Kataaha Museveni, was warmly welcomed by thousands of enthusiastic supporters.
In his address, President Museveni reflected on Busoga’s long-standing role in Uganda’s liberation story and his own political journey. He narrated how, in 1972, he passed through Iganga with 12 machine guns from Tanzania and hid them quietly in a small lodge before proceeding with a liberation mission to Kampala. He also recalled visiting the area in 1980 as Minister of Regional Cooperation during a time when the region was battling trypanosomiasis.
Museveni noted that returning openly—now in peace, stability, and unity—filled him with great happiness. He emphasized that peace is the foundation upon which all development stands, reminding residents that it is because of security that Uganda has been able to pursue large-scale transformation over the years.

She encouraged parents and local leaders to support schools, ensure children attend classes consistently, and work with teachers to maintain quality education in the district.
