Hon. Singh Katongole Returns for Rubaga North Parliamentary Seat, Vows to End Opposition Dominance
His comeback marks a significant moment in Rubaga’s political landscape, as he vows to end what he calls the “long-standing opposition leadership” that has, according to him, failed to deliver meaningful development to the people.
As the 2026 general elections draw near, seasoned politician Hon. Singh Katongole has officially been nominated by the Electoral Commission to contest for the Rubaga North Constituency Parliamentary seat on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) ticket. His comeback marks a significant moment in Rubaga’s political landscape, as he vows to end what he calls the “long-standing opposition leadership” that has, according to him, failed to deliver meaningful development to the people.
Addressing enthusiastic supporters shortly after his nomination, Katongole declared that his return to the political arena is motivated by a renewed commitment to restore service delivery, promote unity, and strengthen development programs in Rubaga North.
“The people of Rubaga have been neglected for too long under opposition leadership. It’s time to try NRM and experience the difference,” Katongole stated, urging residents to give him a chance to transform the constituency.
He emphasized that his campaign will focus on tangible development priorities, including improving social services such as education, healthcare, roads, and youth empowerment programs. Katongole also pledged to work closely with government agencies and the private sector to create more employment opportunities for the youth and women in urban areas like Rubaga North.
Championing Service Delivery and Unity
Katongole said his leadership vision is anchored on President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s broader agenda of socio-economic transformation and wealth creation. He assured voters that, once elected, he will work to bridge the gap between government programs and ordinary citizens, ensuring that Rubaga North fully benefits from ongoing national development initiatives.
“NRM stands for stability, peace, and development. My goal is to ensure Rubaga is not left behind in the government’s efforts to improve people’s livelihoods. Let us move from politics of empty talk to politics of service delivery,” he noted.
A Call for Change
The Rubaga North Constituency, a stronghold of opposition politics for many years, has often been characterized by political contestations and divided loyalties. However, Singh Katongole believes the time has come for residents to embrace a new political direction—one that prioritizes progress over politicking.
He appealed to voters to support candidates who have the ability to attract government attention and resources, saying that Rubaga deserves better than “perennial opposition politics that yield little benefit.”
“My message is simple—let us unite for development. Let us support a leadership that delivers results. NRM is ready to serve, and I am ready to lead Rubaga North into a new chapter of progress,” he added.
A Renewed Political Battle
Singh Katongole’s nomination sets the stage for a spirited contest in Rubaga North, as he seeks to reclaim political ground and strengthen the NRM’s presence in Kampala. His candidacy is expected to inject fresh energy into the ruling party’s urban campaign strategy, with a focus on winning back constituencies that have long been under opposition control.
The Electoral Commission confirmed Katongole’s successful nomination, allowing him to officially embark on his campaign trail as per the electoral guidelines.
As the countdown to the 2026 General Elections continues, Rubaga North is poised to witness an intense political showdown, with Singh Katongole promising a people-centered campaign built on the principles of service, inclusiveness, and transformation.
