President Museveni Pledges Tarmac Road and Restocking Support While Campaigning in Butebo

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to improving infrastructure and restoring livelihoods in Butebo District, as he launched the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Manifesto for 2026–2031.

Addressing thousands of supporters, Museveni praised the people of Butebo for their resilience and unity, noting that their district has made commendable progress in maintaining its roads despite challenges. He highlighted that good leadership at the local level has ensured that murram roads remain in good condition — a sign of accountability and commitment to service delivery.

“I was happy to find their murram roads well maintained. Abanabutebo, well done! Good roads reflect good leaders,” President Museveni remarked, commending local authorities for their stewardship.

He assured residents that the government will prioritize the tarmacking of the Pallisa–Butebo–Nakaloke road, a major transport link that has long been awaited by the community. The project, he said, will ease movement, promote trade, and boost access to markets, schools, and health services.

The President also mentioned ongoing works on the Nabukhaya–Nambola–Nametsimeri–Sahana–Khamitsaru bridge, which he said is already under construction as part of broader efforts to improve infrastructure in eastern Uganda.

On peace and security, Museveni reflected on the history of cattle rustling that once plagued Butebo and neighboring parts of Pallisa, saying his government’s interventions had restored calm and security in the region. He announced that Butebo will benefit from the national restocking programme, intended to help families that lost livestock during previous raids.

“It is right that they benefit from the restocking programme, but we must be truthful so that only the genuine sub-counties benefit,” the President cautioned, emphasizing the need for fairness and transparency in implementing the programme.

The NRM Manifesto 2026–2031, which Museveni officially presented during the rally, focuses on accelerating socio-economic transformation through four key pillars: peace and security, wealth creation, infrastructure development, and human capital development.

In his address, Museveni reiterated that sustained peace and disciplined leadership remain the foundation of national development, and called on the people of Butebo to support the NRM to continue its agenda of transformation.

Residents cheered as the President outlined future plans for the region, including improved road connectivity, agricultural modernization, and youth empowerment through parish-level wealth creation programs.

As the NRM campaign trail continues across the country, President Museveni’s message in Butebo underscored a blend of gratitude, accountability, and forward-looking development — reinforcing the NRM’s vision of ensuring that no part of Uganda is left behind.
