President Museveni Promises Support for Bibanja Holders, Livestock Farmers in Nakaseke Rally

Nakaseke, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, accompanied by First Lady Maama Janet Museveni, on Tuesday addressed a large and enthusiastic crowd at a campaign rally in Butalangu, Nakaseke District, where he reiterated the importance of strategic prioritisation, wealth creation, and the continuation of National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership.

Speaking directly to the electorate as part of his 2026 election campaign trail, the President reflected on the tangible progress the government has made over the past four decades, urging residents to support his re-election and the NRM’s slate of candidates at all levels.

Assessing Progress in Nakaseke: Roads, Electricity, Health and Education

President Museveni detailed major development interventions in Nakaseke, especially in infrastructure and essential services:

Road improvements along key corridors, especially the Kampala–Luweero–Gulu highway and the Matugga–Ssemuto–Kapeeka road, both vital for commerce and connectivity. Plans to further extend the Kampala–Butalangu route toward Ngoma and Masindi were also announced, along with future links through Kapeeka to Nakwaya and Bukomero.

Expansion of electricity coverage, which he noted now reaches many communities that previously lacked reliable power.

Improved access to clean water, schools, and health services, including piped water, boreholes, government primary and secondary schools, and health centres.

The President emphasised that while these investments are essential foundations for development, they are only part of the broader task of transforming livelihoods.

A central theme of Museveni’s address was the distinction between development — public infrastructure that benefits all — and wealth creation — private initiative that directly raises household incomes.

“Development is for all; wealth creation is an individual responsibility,” he told the rally, calling on residents to actively pursue income-generating activities even as government builds roads, extends electricity, and improves services.

To underscore this point, the President celebrated local success stories. He cited George Matongo, a Nakaseke livestock farmer who produces about 900 litres of milk daily, earning significant income despite living far from a tarmac road — an example of how commercial agriculture can uplift families.

Land and Veterinary Support Promises

Responding to local concerns, President Museveni pledged that the government would support Bibanja holders — customary landholders — by acquiring land where appropriate to formalise ownership and enable investment. He also assured residents that veterinary challenges affecting livestock keepers in the district would be addressed through targeted interventions, although detailed plans were yet to be finalised.

The President urged voters in Nakaseke to elect Members of Parliament and local leaders who will listen to constructive advice and collaborate with national policy direction. He reminded constituents that effective representation requires alignment with strategies that have delivered peace, infrastructure, and economic opportunity.

Museveni’s speech in Nakaseke marked another high-energy stop on his nationwide campaign tour. It reflected a familiar but strategically framed message: consolidating the gains of peace and development while pushing citizens — especially in rural districts — toward self-driven wealth creation through agriculture, enterprise, and participation in government programmes.

As the 2026 elections draw closer, the President’s engagements in districts like Nakaseke highlight the NRM’s focus on melding infrastructural achievements with grassroots economic empowerment as a basis for continued leadership.
