UBOS MOVES HARMONISED INTEGRATED SURVEY DISSEMINATION ONLINE AMID EBOLA THREAT FROM DRC
Thursday's landmark statistical release to be broadcast live across six platforms as health precaution replaces physical gathering
The Uganda Bureau of Statistics has announced that Thursday's dissemination of the Uganda Harmonised Integrated Survey Report will no longer proceed as a physical event, with the release instead to be broadcast live across multiple television stations and digital platforms following the outbreak of Ebola Disease in neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo.
The event, scheduled for Thursday 21 May 2026, will be streamed live on UBC TV, NBS TV, NTV, BBS TV, TV West, and the official UBOS YouTube channel, allowing the public and all previously invited attendees to follow proceedings remotely.
UBOS has asked all individuals who had received formal invitations for physical attendance to instead follow the dissemination through the listed broadcast platforms.
The bureau did not indicate whether the format of the release itself would be altered, suggesting the programme will proceed as planned with only the mode of attendance changing.
The decision reflects growing caution among Ugandan institutions in response to the Ebola situation across the border, with authorities opting to limit large gatherings as a preventive public health measure even ahead of any confirmed spread into Ugandan territory.
The Uganda Harmonised Integrated Survey is one of the country's key statistical instruments, providing nationally representative data on household welfare, labour, agriculture, and living standards.
Its findings typically inform government planning, budgetary allocations, and development policy across multiple sectors.
The announcement was made by UBOS Executive Director Chris N. Mukiza, PhD, who serves as the head of the country's principal national statistics agency.
Members of the public are encouraged to tune in through any of the listed platforms to access the report's findings as they are released.
