Man 60 in Luzira Prison Sits for Exams as UNEB Seeks Special Court to Try Malpractice Cases.

The total candidature for the two sets of examinations this year is 379, 748, where of these, 10,147 are transitional candidates, while 369, 601 are the pioneers of the new curriculum, said the Public Relations Officer UNEB, Ms. Jennifer Kalule Musamba.
She included, on Monday, that more females with a total of 5,559 (54.7%) registered for the transitional examination, while for the NLSC, the variance between the males and females is minimal. The new curriculum pioneer, female candidates stand at 187,870 (50.8%), as compared to the males who are 181,727 (49.2%), however , the candidates are sitting from 4,168 examination centers, including Upper Prison Luzira center where the 28 inmates are all sitting for the New Curriculum Examination.
Speaking to journalists at the police headquarters, in kampala , the theme this year is "Embracing Security and Holistic Assessment of Learners in a Dynamic Environment". We call all upon stakeholders to pay serious consideration to the security of examinations and its sacredness because it is the only way for UNEB to be sure that the learners who have gone through their system have the grades and certificates that reflect their true abilities, noted Kalule.
While cautioning against examination malpractice, she indicated that UNEB in partnership with various security agencies as well as contracted professionals to ensure that the security of the examinations is guaranteed, has deployed over 1,200 scouts countrywide, along with 539 security personnel to monitor and the board strongly warns against involvement in any form of examination malpractice, or facilitating the same in any way.
“UNEB’s legal department also put in a request through the senior legal officer for UNEB to specifically get a special court where cases of examination malpractices can be tried from, no feedback is given yet but still waiting positively,” she described.
The Assistant Commissioner and the PRO of police, Kituuma Rusoke has also expressed commitment towards supporting the board to conduct successful examinations. The Uganda Police Force and UNEB have always had a very good collaboration and the police always ensures the safety of UNEB materials both in storage, in transit, to and from the schools.
He added that Uganda police has also deployed liaison officers at each UNEB examination center to ease immediate communications in case of any unlikely incidents.
