UICT Celebrates 636 Graduates at 18th Graduation Ceremony, Charting Uganda’s Digital Future

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology (UICT) marked a significant milestone today as 636 graduates were awarded diplomas and certificates at its 18th graduation ceremony. The event, held under the theme, “Empowering the Digital Generation: Building Adaptive ICT Talent for Uganda’s Future,” highlighted UICT’s continuing role in preparing Uganda’s youth to lead in the rapidly evolving digital economy.

Addressing the graduates, Dr. Fredrick E. Kitoogo, Principal of UICT, delivered a compelling speech emphasizing the transformative power of digital skills and the critical role of Uganda’s youth in shaping the nation’s technological landscape.

“The future is digital, and you, the graduates, are its architects,” Dr. Kitoogo remarked. He underscored that adaptive talent, continuous learning, and ethical innovation will be essential in advancing Uganda’s journey towards a knowledge-based economy.

UICT, recognized nationally as a Centre of Excellence in ICT, continues to lead in digital education and research. The institute has pioneered initiatives such as applied research projects, AR/VR learning experiences, and the ITU-designated Digital Transformation Centre, which serves as a hub for nationwide digital skills development and innovation.

Throughout the ceremony, Dr. Kitoogo urged graduates to embrace the principles of adaptability, creativity, and ethical responsibility. He highlighted that in a world increasingly driven by technology, graduates are not just job seekers—they are innovators, creators, and problem-solvers capable of driving Uganda’s digital transformation.

The 18th graduating class reflects the growing demand for highly skilled ICT professionals in Uganda and beyond. UICT’s comprehensive curriculum equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills, ensuring that they are ready to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing technological landscape.

As the ceremony concluded, graduates were reminded that their journey is only beginning. With Uganda’s vision for a digital economy gaining momentum, these young professionals are now positioned to lead innovation, drive digital solutions, and contribute meaningfully to national development.

Congratulations to the UICT Class of 2025! As they step into the future, their expertise, creativity, and commitment to ethical innovation are expected to play a pivotal role in transforming Uganda into a digitally empowered nation.
